Growing Scholars is a homeschool resource center which is utilized by hundreds of homeschool families in Charlotte, NC and throughout the Southeast. We now have two stores from which to service the North Carolina and South Carolina area. Our customers can browse through over 10,000 items, talk with our knowledgeable staff, have a free cup of coffee, set down and compare curriculum, or attend a "How to Start Homeschooling Seminar". There is also a classroom in which enrichment classes are offered.

Classical Conversations is a weekly academic program for grades K-12. Based on the Classical Model of education, trained tutors lead parents and students in classes with an emphasis on teaching learning skills and integrating subjects. Elementary students participate in the Foundations program, where the focus is achieving mastery of memory work. Students in 3rd through 6th grades can also participate in the Essentials program, which focuses on mastering English Grammar. Middle School and High School students master and refine their dialectic and rhetoric skills in the Challenge programs. All of Classical Conversations programs emphasize the fact that the purpose of all learning is to “Know God and make Him known”. Our motto is, “Declarare Deum- to declare God.”

Catholic Scholars strives to lay the foundation for future learning in elementary aged children. Through a structured program of rigorous, coherent academics and fine arts enrichment, our children will be guided by trained tutors in both knowledge and character in a positive, Catholic classroom environment. Catholic Scholars meets once a week for four quarters and is accompanied by planned field trips, chorus/drama and PE.

Mother of Divine Grace is a classical approach to education created to follow the developmental and learning stages of each child while allowing flexibility in using a method rather than a particular book or set of books. Each family has a consultant for help in planning and accountability.

Monday’s Artists is an affordable fine arts enrichment program meeting 24 weeks each year to teach public speaking, art, chorus and drama to students ages 5 to 17. A nursery is available for littler ones. All classes are taught by hired professionals using a common curriculum created by Monday’s Artists for Monday’s Artists. Each year culminates with an evening of fine arts to celebrate and appreciate what our students have accomplished.

Jett Buskirk teaches art lessons to homeschoolers. From drawing to painting, students learn about the great artists of the world, various art forms as well as basic art appreciation. With a Masters Degree in teaching, Jett has been teaching art and painting murals for over 10 years.

SCIENCE

Homeschool science workshops designed to give more intense experience in topic areas as well as enhance your home curriculum. Concepts will be taught through the use of several methods including demonstration and activities. A pre-assessment test will give the educator an idea of the level of the participants and a post-assessment will give her an idea of how the information is being received/retained. Each 12 weeks of classes includes a field trip to Discovery Place.

Our home school science programs honor the Creator, and inspire students with hands-on experiments that make learning enjoyable. We have our own general science curricula for ages 6 to 11, and offer the Apologia science courses for ages 12 and up. The courses are year long, with meetings every two weeks to allow your home school to gain outside support whilst retaining it's unique home school character. We teach a year long Creation Science class for teenagers, parents welcomed too.

Eight weeks of Bible Study in the Fall and Spring with a nursery for infants and activities for children up to grade 6. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 1:00 to 2:30pm and are followed by a fellowship/refreshment time while the children are kept in their activity groups.

CBS is a national, interdenominational Bible study group with local leadership in the Clover/Lake Wylie area. It is open to all women and of all knowledge levels. Register in fall for classes beginning the end of August. Next years study will be the Gospel of Mark and Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. A wonderful Children’s Ministry Program is available currently for nursery – first grade. Space is limited.

The Palmetto Teen Group provides service, educational, and social opportunities in a Christian atmosphere for middle and high school homeschoolers in York County, SC and the surrounding area.
PTG members must be in 6th through 12th grade and turn 11 years of age by Sept. 1st of the school year he/she is joining. All communication is by email, including a PTG membership directory, so you must have access to email to receive information and news from the group. Instructions on how to communicate with other members of PTG will be emailed to you when you join.
